Is it possible to arrive before check-in time?
To make sure we can offer all our guests a comfortable stay at our masia, we kindly ask you to respect the check-in and check-out times. Our facilities have the same check-in and check-out times as our rooms.
Would you like to leave your luggage and go for a nice walk through the national park, you are more then welcome to do so. Please let us know beforehand if you like to leave your luggage.
What is the closest airport?
Valencia airport is the closest airport to our Masia. This airport is 69 kilometers away.
Other airports that might be interesting to fly to are:
– Alicante: 243 km away
– Barcelona: 332 km away
Do we need a car to reach the Masia?
Yes, it is highly recommendable to rent a car to reach the masia. The hotel is located in a very tranquil locations and public transportation does not reach to the masia nor are taxis difficult to find.
How do we reach Masia de Matuta?
You can find us on google maps. Specific directions will be send to you three days before your arrival.
How is the road to the Masia?
We are so glad to hear that you are interested in staying at our special hotel in a secluded area! Yes, our access can be a little challenging for some, but we think that adds to the thrill of the adventure!
You only have to drive 10 minutes into the mountains to find us. The road is 200 meters of dirt road, but it is easy to navigate with any car! The rest of the road is paved. You don’t need a special car, any passenger car can reach the Masia as long as you come from the right direction!
The road through the mountains is not lit, so we recommend arriving before dark.
Three days before your arrival, we will send you detailed instructions! We hope to see you soon in our little corner of charm and hospitality!
Can we reach the Masia by bike?
Yes, you can! But… you are in the mountains and the road is steep. So it can be a challenge.
The Ojos Negros (the longest via verde of Spain) is located not far away of the Masia. We love you to come and rest here before you hit the via verde again. Please feel free to contact us to request a pick up or a drop off at Castellnovo.
BOOKING INFORMATION
What are the prices off the rooms?
We have different kind, types and sizes of rooms in the Masia. The prices do change during weekdays and weekends and in low and high season. Therefore please click on the room you would like to book and select the dates to see the exact prices.
Keep in mind that booking 2 or more nights always is more economic, since you get an immediate discount on your reservation (except for high season, august)
Which payment methods do you accept?
At Masia de Matuta we only accept card payments (PIN ONLY). Cash is not possible.
Do the rooms have air-conditioning/ heating?
Most of our rooms are equiped with air conditioning to cool down the room in summer and to heat up the room in winter.
When a room does have an air conditioning this is mentioned on the page of that specific room.
Are there any rooms that fit three adults?
We do not have rooms that fit three or more adults. Our rooms fit a maximum of two adults and sometimes an extra child. This depends on the type of room.
Is the Masia accessible for disabled people?
We are so sorry, the Masia only has rooms that are accessible by stairs. The outside area can also be difficult, since there are bumps and steep parts everywhere. Please contact us if you have any questions about this toppic.
Is one night enough to stay at the Masia?
What a lovely question! We can honestly say that every single guest that stayed one night at the Masia told us upon check out that it wasn’t enough!
We do recommend to stay two or more nights to really get the change to slow down and enjoy the tranquility at this special place.
Don’t forget that you get a 10% discount when you stay two or more nights (excluding high season).
Are pets allowed at the Masia?
Sorry, no they are not. We like to make sure that also people with allergies can comfortably stay at the Masia.
Can we rent out the complete Masia?
If you like to stay at the Masia with your friends or family without any other guests, it is sometimes possible to rent the complete Masia for a maximum of 14 persons. For more information, please send an email to: info@masiadematuta.com
Are children accepted at the Masia?
Children from 6 years old are very welcome at our masia! It’s a peaceful spot surrounded by nature, perfect for slowing down and enjoying time together. There are fun things to discover nearby too — from gentle walks and local animals to local adventures that kids will love.
Are there any family rooms?
Yes! We have a beautiful family room at the masia. This room fits two adults and a maximum of three children. Click here to read more information.
Can we park for free at the Masia?
Yes, you can park your car for free at the parking spots available.
Feel free to drive up tot the Masia when you are coming to check-in. After check-in you can park your car two levels down at the parking spots.
What is the cancellation policy?
You can cancel your reservation free of charge up to 4 days before arrival. If you cancel up to 3 days before check-in, 50% will be charged. If you cancel less than 3 days before check-in (including flight cancellations, sickness, weather issues, or other travel disruptions), 100% of the reservation value will be charged. Travel insurance is highly
recommended.
Is breakfast included?
Yes, breakfast is always included for two persons per booked room.
FOOD & BEVERAGES
Is there a restaurant at the Masia?
During the months of July, August and September our restaurant is open five days a week for diner and seven days a week for lunch.
During the month of October, our restaurant is open two days a week (Friday and Saturday) for diner and four days a week for lunch (Monday till Thursday).
You can join us for a set three-course dinner, served between 20:00 and 21:00 hrs. The fixed menu changes regularly and costs €23,50 per person (excluding drinks). Please make sure to reserve in advance, by clicking the box ‘Dinner’, when you are making your reservation. When booking, let us know in the ‘Aditional information” section on the second next page if you have any dietary requirements we should be aware of, and whether you’ll be joining us for dinner every evening. (Please note that cooking in the masia is not permitted).
On evenings when the restaurant is closed, we offer fresh bread boards for €7,50 per person – a simple and tasty alternative.
Are there any bar facilities?
We do not have a physical bar, but we offer refreshments, beers and small snacks in the form of an ‘honesty bar’.
Besides that we have bottles of wine and cocktails available upon request.
We ask our guests not to consume drinks brought by themselves in the public areas (inside and outside).
How far is the closest restaurant?
Since we are located in a secluded place, the nearest restaurant is in Castellnovo, which is a 15 minute drive from the Masia. Click here to see more options of restaurants in the neighborhood.
Can we cook in the rooms or in the Masia?
Some rooms offer a small kitchenette. This is suitable for making a cup of coffee, tea or a sandwich.
Cooking in the rooms or in the common area of the masia is not allowed.
Can we order fresh bread during our stay?
Yes you can. Bread and other delicacies can be ordered at least the day before. A fresh sourdough bread costs 4 euros.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Is smoking allowed?
Since we are located in a national park, we are VERY careful with smoking. Besides that we like all our guests to enjoy the fresh air in the mountains and therefore it is, as well as in the rooms/ hotel, prohibited to smoke on the balconies, at the pool and on all our other terraces. We also ask you not to smoke on the rest of our land, since leaving behind sigaret buds is dangerous for our nature and the animals on our land.
We do have a special place arranged for our smokers.
To ensure everyone’s comfort and safety, we kindly ask that you respect the smoking rules. A fine of €450 will be charged for any violation.
Are there any wellness facilities?
We are working really hard on a wellness area as well. Once this is done, we will inform you on our website.
Is the Masia located in the National Park?
Yes, we are located ín national park: Sierra de Espadan. Walking and mountain biking tours can be started right at the Masia.
Are there any neighbors?
No! There is nobody around us! This means no busy roads, no noisy neighbors, nothing. Just the sound of birds singing and complete silence.
Do you offer tours or workshops?
We do offer all kinds of workshops! From bread making to Spanish courses, to horse workshops and photography classes! Read all about it at the section ‘experiences & events’.

Is it possible to use the (land of the) Masia for film- and or photoshoots?
Yes it is! Masia de Matuta is the perfect place for film- and photography shoots. The light, the sunsets. all the nature around us, the 27 hectares of private land, the animals,rooms with the most amazing views, think about it and let the creativity flow while shooting on our land. Do you offer retreats?

Is it possible to get married at the Masia?
Yes, it is! You can get married or host your party at Masia de Matuta. We offer exclusivity of the Masia with its land for a maximum of 160 guests outside. More information can be found on the ‘experience & events’ page or by contacting us directly at: info@masiadematuta.com
Is the pool open year round?
Yes, the pool is open year round. The pool is not heated, keep that in mind;)
How private is the land?
The 27 hectares of land at Masia de Matuta are 100% private. People can use the road that connects Castellnovo with Vall de Almonacid, but only to trespass.
